From Guessing to Measuring: How We Decipher Your Masticatory System
In our recent international publication (Quintessence Publishing), we explain why complex cases demand a system — not a gut feeling. We apply the globally recognized Kois Principle: a structured methodology that analyzes your entire masticatory system across three dimensions — function, biology, and aesthetics — before a single treatment step is planned.
What does that mean in practice?
Causes, not symptoms: Many treatment plans repair what is visible. We first measure why something broke down. Extreme wear, for instance, nearly always has a functional cause — if that root cause is not addressed, even the finest restoration will not last.
Your virtual twin: Rather than proceeding directly to treatment, we create a complete digital model of your dentition. On this virtual twin, we simulate outcomes, test different approaches, and optimize the plan — before any instrument is used. You see your future smile before we begin.
Why Complexity Is Routine for Us
As a Straumann Centre of Excellence and internationally published authors, we specialize in finding solutions where standard procedures reach their limits. This is not a marketing claim — it is our clinical reality.
Three specialists under one roof: At our practice, orthodontics (Dr. Nicole Horvath), implantology and high-end prosthetics (Dr. Sebastian Horvath), and restorative dentistry (Dr. Domonkos Horvath) work hand in hand. For your dental rehabilitation, this “Ortho-Restorative” approach means: one cohesive plan, no referral chains, no information loss between providers.
Test drive your new smile: Before we place the final ceramics, you receive a comprehensive provisional restoration. You live your daily life with it — eating, speaking, smiling — and give us feedback. Only when function and aesthetics feel right to you do we fabricate the definitive restoration. This is how we guarantee the result. Learn more about our approach to beautiful teeth.
Especially for Patients from Switzerland
Our practice is located just 5 km from the Swiss border — directly opposite Jestetten train station on the SBB line between Zurich and Schaffhausen (S9, S65). From Zurich Airport, the drive takes approximately 20 minutes.
For Swiss patients, there is a significant advantage: we bill according to the German dental fee schedule (GOZ). Compared to the Swiss Dentotar system, this means top-tier treatment at a considerably more favorable investment. Many of our Swiss patients have their costs reimbursed through supplementary health insurance.
Our digital workflow allows us to bundle appointments as efficiently as possible. Between visits, we keep you informed through asynchronous video updates — so you do not need to cross the border for every follow-up question.
What Our Patients Say
“This is a family practice that really cares about its patients. Everything is planned so that it can be done in as few appointments as possible. As an expat in Switzerland, my treatment with Dr. Horvath was mostly covered by my supplementary health insurance, and in the end the whole treatment was cheaper than if I had traveled to my home country. Dr. Horvath gave me brand new teeth in just a few hours.”

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Expert Second Opinion
“What does a second opinion cost?”
The initial consultation includes a thorough discussion, a clinical examination, and digital scans with our intraoral scanner. Additional imaging such as a CBCT (3D X-ray) is only performed when diagnostically necessary — not as standard. Costs depend on the scope and are communicated transparently in advance.
“What happens with my existing treatment plan?”
Ideally, bring any existing X-rays and treatment or cost plans. We analyze the proposed plan objectively, present alternatives where appropriate, and explain the differences. In the end, you decide — informed and without pressure.
“How much time should I plan for?”
Plan for approximately 45 minutes for the initial consultation. If you already know your case is complex, let us know in advance — we will reserve a longer appointment so we can begin treatment planning right away: with photos, video, and a digital simulation of your new smile on your own face (Smile Design).
“Does a second opinion make sense if I’m not in pain?”
Especially then. When extensive prosthetic work is planned, an independent analysis can uncover minimally invasive alternatives that better protect your healthy tooth structure — and potentially reduce the scope of treatment significantly.
No Fear of Complex Diagnoses
A complex case is not an obstacle for us — it is an invitation to the highest level of precision. We love the challenge of restoring lost masticatory systems to biological and aesthetic perfection. It is what we do every day.
